Kuttanad is in Kerala, a southern state of India. It is spread over eighteen Panchayats or village groups belonging to the districts of Alapuzha, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam.There is no recorded history on the origin of this land.Thus came the place name Chuttanad or the burnt place. In course of time Chuttanad became Kuttanad.A land crisscrossed with rivers, canals, lakes and lagoons Kuttanad has been the home of people with a common culture, but of different religions and ethnic backgrounds who have lived in harmony for centuries together.Kuttanad has for long been known as the granary of Kerala.
